In early December, the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) approved the Bachelor of Science degree program in Water: Resources, Policy, and Management. The degree program is approved to initiate effective fall of 2015.
Many students have expressed interest in the new B.S. program and some students who plan to switch their majors are now being advised on course selection. The program is an interdisciplinary, holistically integrated Bachelor of Science degree specializing in water that includes training in water science, policy, and management to ensure that water is a sustainable resource. Students will take courses in hydrology, economics, water quality, policy, geospatial technology, and planning and can concentrate in areas such as aquatic ecosystems, public health, watershed management, international water management, or water-climate-energy issues.
Interested students should contact Dr. Stephen Schoenholtz or Dr. Kevin McGuire.
